College football bowl games have begun as Saturday, the New Mexico Bowl and the Potato Bowl were contested.
Gildan New Mexico Bowl: Nevada 48 Arizona 49
The Nevada Wolfpack jumped out to a 21-0 lead, quickly. But Arizona scored 21 points of their own, to tie the game. As expected, this game was an offensive shootout. By halftime, Nevada led 31-28. When the Wolfpack scored two more TD’s the game was now 45-28. With less than a minute remaining, Arizona was trailing 48-35. QB Matt Scott threw his second TD pass to make it 48-42. An onside kick was then recovered by the Wildcats. Then at 0:22 in the 4th, Scott threw his third and final score to give Arizona a 49-48 lead, which would stand.
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Utah State 41. Toledo 15
This contest was low-scoring until the 4th quarter. The Utah State Aggies led 13-9, when RB Kerwynn Williams exploded for three rushing touchdowns for Utah State. Eventually, 28 points were scored by the Aggies in the 4th quarter. Toledo could only manage a kickoff return for the Rockets’ only touchdown.
