Thursday, the Cincinnati Bearcats (10-3) took care of the Duke Blue Devils (6-7) 48-34 in the Belk Bowl. Duke jumped out to 16-0 lead, and Cincinnati’s weakened coaching staff appeared lost. But the Bearcats scored 17 consecutive points to enter halftime, leading 17-16. The game went back and forth, and was tied at 34-34, when Duke had the ball inside the Bearcats’ 5 yard line. But a disastrous fumble for the Blue Devils, gave the Bearcats a chance to take the lead. Brendon Kay threw a 84 yard TD pass to Travis Kelce, to give UC the lead. A late interception-TD sealed a Cincinnati victory.
