Bengals Roar in the Lions’ Den

Last week the Bengals won 27-24 against Buffalo on Mike Nugent field goal. This week the Bengals won by the same score in the same fashion. Once again┬áMike “Cat scratch fever” Nugent kicked a game-winning field goal at time expired to give the Bengals a 27-24 victory in Detroit. The Bengals took a lead with a fantastic throw and catch from Andy Dalton to AJ Green. QB Dalton threw for nearly 400 yards and 3 TD. However the Detroit Lions battled back. WR Calvin Johnson was superb, with two TD catches, including an amazing catch on a Hail Mary from QB Matthew Stafford. The catch was made with three defenders covering Johnson, a highlight play. The score tied the game at 24 before Nugent’s field goal. The Bengals improve to 5-2 and have a 2 game lead in the AFC North, while the Lions fall to 4-3 tied for first place in the NFC North.

The Cincinnati Bengals are headed to the NFL Playoffs for the second straight year. Yesterday, the Bengals defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 13-10 to clinch a playoff spot. K Josh Brown was able to seal the victory with a 43-yard field goal with 4 seconds remaining. Cincinnati (9-6) will be the sixth seed in the AFC. The Baltimore Ravens have won the AFC North with a victory over the New York Giants, 33-14. While the Bengals will play Baltimore next week for the Regular Season finale, the contest will not mean much for either team. Both teams know they will play in the first round in the Postseason. The Bengals will be on the road, and the Ravens will be home for the NFL Playoff games. Cincinnati could play either New England, Denver, Houston, or Baltimore. Week 17 will decide their opponent.
