Source: Northern Illinois to the Orange Bowl

The AP is reporting that the Northern Illinois Huskies (no. 16 in AP Poll) will play Florida State in the Orange Bowl. The Huskies (12-1) defeated Kent State in the MAC Championship Game. A rule in the BCS states that any team that is ranked in the top 16 in the BCS, and higher than a major conference champion, is granted access to a BCS game.

Northern Illinois would be the first MAC team to play in a BCS Game. NIU’s only loss was at Iowa in the Week 1.
