We all know by now that the Cincinnati Reds will play the San Francisco Giants on Saturday for game 1 of the NLDS. First pitch will be at 9:37 p.m. at AT&T Park in San Francisco. The Reds finished 97-65 for the season, while the Giants finished 94-68. Johnny Cueto will start for the Reds on the mound versus Giants’ hurler Matt Cain. This will be a best of 5 series, meaning the team with three wins will advance to play in the NLCS. Saturday’s game will be televised on TBS.
Cincinnati Reds defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-2 last night. The major story is the feat of Johnny Cueto, who became the first Major League pitcher to 17 wins on the season. At 17-6 and an ERA below 2.60, Cueto is making a push for 20 wins, and the Cy Young Award. Not bad, considering he wasn’t apart of the NL All-Star Team.
The Reds have won two in a row and are 7 games ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals. They play again today in Arizona, at 3:35 p.m.
